Entry #11

For the past week, there hasn't been anything really new. Unfortunately, Sarina and I haven't been able to work on it very much. I have been buying materials and planning videos for a work session this Sunday. We are going to make steaks and drinks this Sunday. On the other hand, there was a bit of a crisis with Sarina. She was getting stressed out a bit, but we talked it over, and now the crisis is resolved.  This project is still kind of exciting,  but it's really starting to get tedious.  There's so much work and planning that goes into a video, and I never expected that. Coupled with the multiple recipes per video, the time required to produce one is a lot more than I first expected. This project will be coming to an end soon, and I'm glad that I chose the topic that I did, because it has really been quite the experience.

Entry #10

Sarina and I have mainly been working on editing, but I think we have a few more videos planned out. We're going to finish these videos up, and then focus mainly on editing. I think that editing is going to be a really big challenge, due to the sheer amount of filming time that we had. At this point, I feel that the aesthetics of the  show don't matter that much anymore. What matters is the complete project, and making as many videos as we can. However, I feel that the sheer amount of work that Sarina and I did isn't going to be shown in the number of videos that we made, but in the number of recipes that we completed. We still haven't had time to do filming for a while, so we haven't filmed anything new. But, I know we plan to work on it over spring break in order to get more videos done.  I'm still feeling pretty solid about this project and where we're going with it, although the time constraint is starting to worry me a bit.

So far, the project has been going pretty well. However, Sarina and I have been having some problems with time management on the weekends. We'll probably have another day where we do a whole bunch of recipes in one day. We are continuing the video editing, and a new exciting development has been the design of our cooking videos. We started picking out the title screen and the font and those sort of things. We're also going to be choosing a background music for the show. On Friday, there should be a lot of editing done. I'm also really excited for the blooper reel that we're going to make. I think that that's going to be one of the best parts of our project. However, Sarina and I have been having a bit of a problem choosing new recipes to try out. We should be moving into recipes that are more challenging,  but it's a bit difficult choosing which ones to do, brcause we don't want to choose a recipe that takes like 4 hours to do, but we want it to be challenging enough for us so we can push our comfort zone a bit.

This is a link to a photo of pho. I'm considering doing this for an introduction video, although I'd probably be bringing some of my family's pho to Sarina and not making it, because pho is a really complicated dish to make.

Entry #8

So last weekend, Sarina and I filmed three videos, which comprise of 8 recipes. We each did 2 chicken wing recipes, drinks, and introductory videos. Specifically, the recipes I did were a flan,  Vietnamese-style nuoc mam (fish sauce) chicken wing, a simple spicy Sriracha chicken wing, and a raspberry Italian soda. The ones Sarina made were a lemon pepper chicken wing, a garlic Sriracha chicken wing, a coffee cake in a cup, and a chocolate milkshake. This was a lot of filming, and took about seven hours total to finish and clean up. So the video count is now up to five, but I would still like maybe another eight or nine videos, so that we can really have a bit of a collection. So tomorrow in class, the process will continue. I will start planning more videos, and Sarina will begin to edit the newly-filmed ones. I'm still excited about cooking more recipes and eating them. The final product is coming along well, although there is still some editing to be done.

So lately, I've been researching more recipes so Sarina and I can have one day where we just work on everything. I believe that day is going to be this Saturday, where we will film 2 or 3 different videos for our project. The recipes I plan on making this Saturday are the banh flan and 2 different variations of chicken wings. Tomorrow, I might find another dessert to do as well, or maybe a fun drink for a competition video or to pair with the chicken wings. In the video editing world, Sarina has created an awesome new stop-motion for the theme song of our videos. It's really cutesy, and I like it. So far, there hasn't been much more progress, due to the lack of time on the weekends for filming. Spring break is going to be one of those times where Sarina and I do like a video a day, though. So we'll make up for lost time there.

There's nothing that's really new really. We have this process of planning, filming, and editing videos that's stayed basically the same. However, I am planning to do my first introduction video with a Vietnamese version of a flan, known as simply banh flan in Vietnamese. Hopefully, that will taste great. The final product is coming along well, although there's still lots to add and edit. Hopefully, we'll be able to finish at least another 7 videos by the time the project is due. I'm still excited about this project because I get to eat all the delicious things I make after we film. There's not really anything that bothers me, although the editing is a bit difficult to do because of the inexperience of my group in that area. So far, I think I'm okay with the progress on our project, but I think that we could step it up a bit.

Websites:
1. http://www.bakerella.com/
2.http://www.yummly.com/

These are two websites that I started using to help me think of ideas for the next video of Puffin and the Vijtable (the name of my partner and I's cooking channel on Youtube). When I'm stuck, I like to just browse around a bit on these two websites for some great inspiration. They can really come in handy, although the two sites are based on different areas of cooking. Bakerella is a website that focuses on sweets and baked goods, as you probably guessed.  The things that the creator does on here are absolutely wonderful and creative and cute, too! On the other hand, Yummly is a website that can be used for more savory recipes, although there are also desserts on this website. All the items there look really good, and I may even go and steal some of these recipes. I found each site by just searching the internet for good databases of recipes and ideas. They were really easy to find.
